LALIGA president Javier Tebas has said that he hopes that Getafe FC winger Mason Greenwood will lengthen his stay in Spain after an impressive spell with the club. United had said that the attacker joined Getafe so that he doesn’t become a distraction for the club despite all criminal charges of assault and attempted rape being dropped against him.

Jim Ratcliffe, new co-owner of the Red Devils, had suggested that last week that the club would be looking at Greenwood’s situation again, but Tebas is eager to keep the player in the Spanish top-tier.
“I am a lawyer,” Tebas said after he spoke at the Financial Times Business of Football Conference.
“If someone came out of a legal case innocent there is nothing else to say. He is doing really well as a player and I hope he continues to stay in Spanish football. That is good for us,” he added.
“You should respect legal process. People might be condemning him in the press but you have to respect the legal decision,” Tebas further mentioned.
Greenwood has notched seven goals in 25 appearances for Getafe across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign. The club is currently placed 10th in the LALIGA table after garnering 35 points from 27 league games.
